Counselor In Training

Horse Therapy

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Horse Therapy Centre of Canada offers an excellent counselor in training (CIT) program for our youth in grades 10 to 12.

This three-week program will help campers become more confident, responsible leaders while training them to be camp counselors.

CITs are still classified as campers, participating in all of the horse therapy camp activities; however, they will participate in a program that will include more leadership-building skills.

Responsibilities

Counselors In Training will be assigned daily duties that could include:

E

Helping staff members during group sessions

E

Learning how to manage groups of children

E

Helping staff in administrative areas of the camp

E

Leading a game or activity

CITs will be carefully supervised, encourage, evaluated, given constructive feedback an coached.

FREE CAMP MODEL

Just as our therapy horse camp model is free, so is our CIT therapy horse camp model. We provide complementary camp, CIT training, and transportation for each of our CITs who are involved in two (2) or more therapy sessions per day.

Important

Due to the nature of the CIT program requirements for CITs to be more of a role model to our younger campers and to have increased responsibilities, HTCC reserves the right to advise parents if their child is not ready to progress in the CIT program and thus should become an LIT camper instead.
