Illness Insurance (Optional)

$20 / WEEK PER CHILD

At the time of enrolment, parents may choose to sign up for the Horse Centre of Therapy Canada’s weekly Illness Insurance. This optional insurance covers your investment against the possibility that your child may have an extended absence or need to withdraw from Camp because of illness or injury.

Coverage helps you recover a portion of your camp tuition if your child is absent from camp for two consecutive days or more. Absence must be due to an illness or an injury only (proof of illness/injury is required by an in-person doctor’s visit). This is a weekly insurance and proof must be provided weekly for a partial refund of each week’s tuition. This coverage only covers camp tuition, not addition or optional services.

Just add the HTCC Illness Insurance to your camp fees at the time of registration – this cannot be added once your Application for Enrolment has been confirmed.

All forms must be completed online.

EXAMPLE APPROVED ILLNESS INSURANCE USAGE

Leo is registered for two sessions, 4 weeks of camp, and in week 2 he comes down with the flu. He comes to camp on Monday but is away for the remainder of the week. Leo’s adult sends HTCC a doctor’s note on Thursday, excusing Leo from camp due to the flu. Leo returns to camp the following week and his family is refunded for his camp tuition for Thursday and Friday of the week missed.

EXAMPLES OF UNAPPROVED ILLNESS INSURANCE USAGE

EXAMPLE 1: Leo is registered for two sessions, 4 weeks of camp, and in week 2 he does not come to camp due to family issues at home. His adult contacts HTCC and informs us of such and requests a refund through the illness insurance program. This request is denied, as this is not an illness.

EXAMPLE 2: Leo is registered for two sessions, 4 weeks of camp, and in week 2 he does not come to camp due to a cold. His adult contacts HTCC and informs us of such and requests a refund through the illness insurance program, and presents a doctor’s note from an online doctor stating that he has a cold and cannot return to any of the future camp sessions. Leo’s family is asked to provide a note from an in-person doctor’s visit.

EXAMPLES OF PARTIALLY APPROVED ILLNESS INSURANCE USAGE

EXAMPLE 1: Leo is registered for two sessions, 4 weeks of camp with a 1:1 counselor. In week 2 he comes down with the flu. There is no refund for the 1:1 service, as this insurance covers camp tuition fees only.
